Youth and women leadership
Building the next generation of Maya leaders.
All Maya people, young and old, feel rooted in Maya spirituality, confident about their identity and awareness of their world, actively shaping their future, adopting new technologies on their way.

The Future We Dream describes a people rooted in their culture and open to the world and new technologies. JCS’s strategic programme area 1 puts it this way: all Maya people, young and old, feel rooted in Maya spirituality, confident about their identity and actively shaping their future.
Ral ch’och’ means we are people of the land, who live on the land, depend on the land, and work and care for the land. Passing on that identity, through language, spirituality and customary practices, is how the next generation stays connected to the land and to each other.
JCS invests in the next generation through scholarships, celebrated at the Scholarship Awards Ceremony, and through a youth and women leadership project that is building the next generation of Maya leaders.
Maya existential values on reciprocity with the land, collectiveness, unity and peace have been taken back, revitalized and safeguarded.
